Josh Beck, Professional Duathlete, PT Aide, Running Shoe Specialist, Personal Trainer
Josh has been involved with Physical Therapy since 2003. Josh has found that Physical Therapy has been extremely beneficial to him as well as his wife. Josh has seen this first hand, not as an actual Physical Therapist, but as a frequent patient! Josh's resume of self-inflicted sports injuries would make Evil Knieval green with envy.
Whether it was a broken leg, mysterious exploding vein, torn ligaments, elbow tendonitis, plantar fascitis, or IT band syndrome, he has seen the benefits of physical therapy first-hand. Part of Josh's excuse for such recklessness revolves around his participation at the international level in professional multi-sport. Be it a duathlon (running and cycling) or triathlon (swimming, cycling, running), he has traveled the world in hopes of finishing on top. Josh, is currently ranked 2nd in the world as a professional duathlete, and has won numerous local and international duathlons, triathlons, running and cycling races.
Since graduating from Slippery Rock University in 2000 with a degree in Exercise Science, Josh has raced his bicycle professionally in the US and Europe, won a national and world title as an amateur duathlete, and made countless trips to emergency rooms throughout the world. Some say "healthcare for all!"... Josh's motto while racing has been, "I'll try all healthcare!". When it comes to having a positive outlook on injuries, Josh is your man! Currently, Josh resides with his wife, Jan and their Golden Retriever, Reilly in the growing metropolis of Carlisle. In addition to assisting at Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy, He is also a trustworthy running shoe specialist/shoe salesman at Dutrey's shoes.
When not working, Josh can be found training on his bike or running. His current goal is to win the Powerman World Championship in Switzerland. This race is the Ironman Hawaii of the duathlon world and is job security for the therapy clinic, as anyone who finishes will soon have some sort of injury. Josh has placed as high as 3rd (out of over 300 participants) in the Switzerland Powerman Championships, the highest by an American since 1992, and he plans on winning it soon!
